Alpha Nu Omega Alumni Chapter - Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.

The Beginnings

Iota Phi Theta’s presence in the Houston metropolitan area has existed since 1971 with the introduction of Iota to the campus of Prairie View Agricultural and Mechanical University; however it was during the summer of 1998 that brothers Chris O’Banner, William Wyatt, and Geoff Boykin decided to add to the thriving organizations presence in South Texas.

South Texas Expansion

After bringing the brotherhood to the Epsilon Alpha (Texas Southern University) and Zeta Eta (University of Houston) chapters located on local campuses in the area, the trio sat down in the summer of 1998 to form the alumni colony that gave birth to the Alpha Nu Omega Alumni Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.

Alpha Nu Omega. Established 2003

The chapter was officially awarded its chapter letter designation at the August 1st 2003 fraternal business meeting during the bi-annual National Conclave in Chicago, Illinois. As of 2014, under the leadership of past Polari Chris O'Banner, Geoff Boykin, Lenard Polk, Freddie Green, Torrey Thompson, and James Pierre, the chapter has increased local membership and impacted the city of Houston, Texas. ANO is devoted to the city of Houston and our fraternity’s purpose; “The development and perpetuation of Scholarship, Leadership, Citizenship, Fidelity, and Brotherhood among Men.”
